Our finca “Lomos Altos” is loved by people looking for peace, simplicity and nature: no frills, no wifi, no pool – but a wide sky and a fantastic view of the sea, the neighboring islands and the volcanic chain in the west. Here you can focus on the essentials, find yourself and experience the power of the elements.
Fantastic location
“Lomos Altos” means “high back” in Spanish: The finca is located on a slight hill (150 m above sea level) outside Puerto del Carmen. It is around 3 km from the center and the sea. It is surrounded by black volcanic gardens planted with cacti, aloe vera, pepper trees, hibiscus and many other subtropical plants.
Living in silence
The various living options are spread across three buildings, which are nestled into the hillside around 200 m apart. An event room invites you to read, play and exercise. There is also a library with fiction and works by Rudolf Steiner. Our new outdoor kitchen awaits guests who love to cook!

All the amenities of the Centro are at your disposal: Pool, restaurant, organic food store, therapeutic center, exercise pool, events. A rental car is recommended. Families with children and spa guests are better off in Centro.
Events on the finca
Birgit Otto offers regular guided tours of the finca, where you can learn interesting facts about the garden and plants, the island’s typical agriculture and the history of the finca. Her workshops in which she distils dried herbs are very popular (once a month or on request for at least 5 people). Other events also take place here.
Gardening with Picón
Typical of the island, the finca’s garden is covered with small, porous lava stones – called picón – which absorb the nightly dew and protect the soil from drying out and erosion. Birgit Otto and Jacobo Menacho look after the gardens and terraces. You are welcome to join in the gardening if you are interested! A lively gardening group is always at work on Tuesday mornings.
Where it all began
The finca with its 3.5 hectares of land is the birthplace of the Centro Antroposófico – this is where the founding couple started biodynamic farming. From this grew the therapeutic center, gradually vacation apartments and a Waldorf kindergarten. Today, part of the land is leased to an organic gardener who grows vegetables, fruit and grapes. It is our great wish that one day Demeter vegetables will grow here again and that biodynamic preparations will make the soil more fertile!
